Udon Thani (Udon) is one of the major cities of the Kingdom of Thailand. Used as an airbase in the Vietnam War, busy with cross border trade with Laos, filled with busy and industrious people going about their daily lives, it is a place where people travel to, and depart from, with some frequency.
Located in the city centre is this bus station. It is the older of the two stations that service this great city. From here buses depart to Bangkok, the centre of all things mobile in Thailand, and to the neighbouring provinces. It seems that local buses, that travel within the province, base themselves in various streets in the city, not at the station.
In design, a long rectangular open, seated, waiting area, with buses bays around. At northern end, tickets on sale, at the other toilets and mini-mart. In a crowded location, not much space for the big buses to manoeuvre. Located not too far from the train station. Somewhat unusually, the station is blue in colour. Usually it is an undistinguished grey or yellow.
In the offices around the station are booking offices for the various coach lines that traverse this region, plus, the quotidian hustle and bustle of folk going about their lives in this imperfect world.
