Constructed as St. Mary's parish hall in 1905, this building was purchased by Canadian Northern Railway in 1911 for offices. It was converted to a station in 1913, and was in use as a train station for the Canadian Northern Railway and Canadian National Railways until 1971.
The City of Calgary acquired the abandoned and vandalized station in 1978. The station became a registered Alberta Historic Resource in 1981. In 1987, it was restored and is now Alberta Ballet's home.
Interpretive displays, railway tracks, and the old CNR railway bridge across the Elbow River can be found just south of the building, near the river.
