The Ball, engraved to represent the Earth, rests on a cylindrical base inscribed with the words, "Robert H. Meinders Plaza". The whole assembly is in the center of a circular area paved with donation bricks.
At the time of this posting, the water fountain function is not active. This may be due to the severe drought affecting this area of the U.S. or perhaps it's off because school is not in session.
