The State Fair Bandshell is the venue for concerts and entertainment throughout the year. The shell is a semi-circle with four concentric circles. Lit up at night, it is quite a sight. At the time of our visit, a small group was practicing for a "Midnight Streak" fund-raising race throughout the park.
During the Oklahoma State Fair each September (2012: September 13-23), the bandshell is used continuously from 10:00am to 10:30pm for a variety of entertainment. The large bandshell lawn offers space to set your lawn chair, or place your blanket, grab some Fair food and a drink, and enjoy the entertainment. Concerts include jazz, blues, hip hop, rock, country and Christian bands, ethnic and classical dance, soloists, choirs, drama and magicians. [Details found on the State Fair website].
During the Fair, the Bandshell also hosts special events such as Jr. ROTC Drill Competition, the ASC Cheerleading, Dance & Pom Pon Regional Competition, and the Band Day awards ceremony.
