"Como School operated from the 1883 construction of the original, wood frame grade school building through 1948, the last year of its use as a public educational facility. In addition to the hipped roof grade school, there is a small gabled roof building that was moved to the school grounds during the early 1930s to serve as a high school. The complex also includes two outhouses and a small storage shed. After closing as a school, the property was acquired by the Como Civic Association, and it remains in use as a community center. Listed under Rural School Buildings in Colorado Multiple Property Submission (http://www.historycolorado.org/sites/default/files/files/OAHP/crforms_edumat/pdfs/627.pdf )." (from (

This building is being restored and repurposed as a community center and meeting hall as an ongoing town project, as well as the adjacent (though smaller) High School building. The high school building was being painted while I was visiting. The two buildings may be toured upon request (comoroundhouse@gmail.com).
