The film was primarily shot at Barrandov Studios in Prague (Czech Republic), with additional location shooting in the Bahamas, Italy and the United Kingdom.
About Karlovy Vary
The town of Karlovy Vary is located in the western part of the Czech Republic at the confluence of the rivers Teplá and Ohre (Eger), about 120 km from Prague. It is the largest and most famous spa town in the Czech Republic.
Karlovy Vary - the former Carlsbad - was named for Holy Roman Emperor (and King of Bohemia) Charles IV, who founded the town in 1370. It is renowned for its curative waters that have supported a fashionable spa culture for several centuries.
About scenes and photos
In Casino Royale Bond is sent to Montenegro for a high stakes poker game against Le Chiffre. Filming took place in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
For the Casino building the producers used one of the most beautiful buildings in Czech Republic, ‘Lazne I’ or Spa I, the former ‘Kaiserbad’. It lies a few minutes outside the heart of Karlovy Vary on Mírové námestí.
