The Salt Palace sought expansion in LEED style due to the popularity of the center and demand for convention space. They earned Gold status by using local and regional materials, 10% recycled content, and diverting up to 75% of construction waste from landfills. They used low-emitting materials, energy conserving lighting, and designed water efficient landscaping. And patrons are free to use public transportation or the bike racks and changing rooms.
