Svaty Jan Nepomucky se narodil v Cechach kolem roku 1340 a zastaval pozici generalniho vikare. Kvuli sporum s kralem Vaclavem IV. byl roku 1393 zajat, umucen a jeho telo bylo svrzeno do Vltavy z Karlova mostu. Jan Nepomucky byl prohlasen za svateho roku 1729 a jeho kult byl uctivan prave v obdobi pozdniho baroka.

EN: The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in a blind alley leading from street V Sareckem udoli near bus station Kalinuv mlyn. The stone statue is placed on a pedestal in an alley of trees. Saint John is carved as usual in his canon suit with an iron cross in his hands.
Saint John of Nepomuk was born in Bohemia around 1340 and he was the Vicar-General of the Archdiocese of Prague. Because of his disputes with the king Wenceslas IV he was seized, martyred to death and his body was dropped from the Charles Bridge to Vltava river. John of Nepomuk was canonized in 1729 and his cult was worshipped mostly in the era of Late Baroque.
