Rock and Roll star Elvis Presley moved into Graceland in 1957, and for the next 20-years he lived, entertained and died here. He was buried at Graceland, and the estate has become a pilgrimage for Elvis fans across the world.
Today Graceland is part of the Elvis Presley Museum and Tourist Complex. Tickets to the mansion can be be purchased at the Visitors Center located across the street from the house. Tours are self-guided with the help of an individual audio player given to each person prior to boarding the bus for the trip to the mansion. Once on the grounds you may spend as much time as you like touring the house and grounds. Only the lower floors or the house are open to the public and are decorated just as it was when Elvis died in an upstairs bedroom on August 16, 1977.
