The lawn of the Dewey Hotel is a fitting place for this time capsule which was placed during Oklahoma's Centennial Year, 2007. The Hotel was the original building Jake Bartles built the year he founded Dewey. Dewey was founded in 1899 when this country was Indian Territory, eight years before Oklahoma was granted statehood. The plaque on the time capsule reads:
