The Renaissance structure built in the 16th Century is now the seat of the Governor of Oberösterreich, the regional parliament and the provincial government.
The building is a former Friars Minor monastery, and in 1564-1571 housed the former Parliament building for the Upper Austrian country stands.
Today, the complex consists of three courtyards, as well as a gate passage connecting the promenade and the monastery lane. During summer the Villa courtyard hosts classical concerts.
