The McDonald's website (visit
link) tells of their involvement with the Olympics and what visitors can
expect:
"McDonald's and the Olympic Games
McDonald's
has been a proud supporter of the Olympic Movement for the past 40 years. We are
looking forward to welcoming the world in London, as the Official Restaurant of
the London 2012 Olympic Games.
McDonald's commitment to the Olympic Movement began in
1968 when the company airlifted hamburgers to U.S. athletes competing in
Grenoble, France. We first became an Official Sponsor of the 1976 Olympic Games
in Montreal, and in 1984, McDonald's and our franchisees provided the funds to
build the Olympic Swimming Stadium in Los Angeles.
In 1998 we became a worldwide sponsor (TOP) at the
Nagano Olympic Winter Games and will continue that commitment through the London
2012 Olympic Games.
Our support for the Olympic Games
As Official
Restaurant of the Olympic Games, McDonald's will have four Olympic restaurants
on the Olympic Park at London 2012.
They will be both the biggest and busiest McDonald's
restaurants, during the Games, anywhere in the world. With cutting-edge designs
and graphics everyone who visits our Olympic Park restaurants will get the best
possible customer experience in a great environment. Each restaurant will also
help meet LOCOG's aim of making London the greenest Games ever, being designed
with maximum re-use after the Games. Whether it's the furniture or the kitchens
everything will be re-implemented in our other UK restaurants after the
Games.
Feeding the Games
For the eighth consecutive
Olympic Games, McDonald's will continue to feed Olympic Games spectators, the
world's media and the athletes in the Athletes' Village.
During the 29 days of the Games (Olympic and
Paralympic), McDonald's will serve over 1.75 million meals in some of our
busiest restaurants in the world."
