In front of the Ron Jon shop in Cocoa Beach, is formed concrete statue fo Kelly Slater. Local boy who made it big on the waves.
Plaque at base of statue reads: "Kelly Slater, born on February 11, 1972, became the youngest world surfing champion ever at 20 years old and has gone on to win ten more world titles with his most recent win in 2001. Kelly's rise to the top was developed spending countless hours in the challengling small waves of his hometown of Cocoa Beach, Florida. He holds the record for the most World Championship Tour (WCT) victories with 48 wins and has won the prestigious Pipeline Masters on the North Shore of Hawaii six times. ASP World Chamion in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011. WCT Tour Victories: 48. 6-Time Pipeline Master winner and 2-time Triple Crown of Surfing winner. Kelly Slater is considered to be the greatest surfer of all time."
