"Pi Lambda Phi is a college social fraternity founded by Frederick Manfred Werner, Louis Samter Levy, and Henry Mark Fisher at Yale University in 1895. It was founded as the first non-sectarian fraternity, "a fraternity in which all men were brothers, no matter what their religion; a fraternity in which ability, open-mindedness, farsightedness, and a progressive, forward-looking attitude [would] be recognized as the basic attributes." A brother of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity is also known as a "Pi Lam."

This quote encompasses what it means to be a Pi Lam, but is only fully understood after you become one. "Joining a fraternity means nothing, but when you have really worked for it, sweated for it, cursed it, and loved it, as well as the men in it, you have something."

Brother Alfred Kovner, PA Alpha Delta, Temple University '42" quoted from (visit link)
