The railway in Elsecar Heritage Centre is run by volunteers. The phone box is sited in the courtyard near to the station building. It has no phone installed. This Centre was originally the workshops for Elsecar Colliery and the railway was used to carry coal to the nearby canal, a private rail station was built in the workshop for the use of Earl Fitzwilliam and his guests for various outings and travel to horse races.
