Seeing (Dallas Cowboys) stars in Sacramento

The director of the Sacramento, California airport is an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. When they built the new $1 billion Terminal B at this metropolitan airport, he conspired with the architect to place four small and inconspicuous stars in the flooring to honor his favorite team.

The Dallas team stars were a secret until Bob Shallit, a columnist for the Sacramento Bee newspaper, let the cat out of the bag with a piece published April 19, 2012, entitled “Airport’s sneaky stars – can you find them?”

He writes:

“We spotted two of the stars, on the building’s east side, in a largely untraveled space behind not-yet-occupied ticketing stations. Two more stars are blended into the terrazzo elsewhere on the same floor . . .”

This waypoint pinpoints just one of the four stars, the easiest one to find. It is shown up close in one photo, and in the foreground of the broader photo. The stars are all on the middle ticketing level and you can see the large red rabbit sculpture nearby that is a main attraction for airport visitors.

Verification questions:

1. Some jealous sports fan, incapable of tolerating the idea of the Dallas Cowboys having a star on our native turf, wrote in indelible ink the name of another sports team across the star. What is the name of that other sports team? The graffiti was whited-out in the photograph.

2. The star is about a) 6 inches across, b) 12 inches, c) 20 inches.
