"Gustaf and Maria Höglund were some of the earliest Swedish pioneers of the Smoky Valley. They homesteaded 80 acres to the west of Lindsborg. The Höglund's first dwelling was a dugout estimated at 6 foot x 12 foot and they used their wagon as a roof! The Höglunds lived in the dugout from 1868 until 1874. The family later built a frame home over the top using the dugout as a cellar." Source
