EN: The former rectory of Arlesheim is located in the old village center at the entrance of the former cemetery, where also the parish church used to be. The old rectory was first mentioned in 1554 as dilapidated, it was renovated in 1625 but was apparently not habitable a few years later. A new building was approved in 1736, but could not be executed until two years later, because at first Solothurn refused its contribution. It then served as a parsonage until 1913.

The house has three storeys and a distinctive hipped roof. Originally it had a width of four window bays, but it was later extended laterally about an axis. The windows of the top floor are a little lower. Above the entrance is the inscription: Anno 1738 Jahres.

The Baroque parsonage of Arlesheim falls into the time when Arlesheim was the residence of the cathedral chapter, which raised the value and the position of the pastor. Obviously, the canons and the bishop set value on the fact that the priest had a worthy official residence. It may seem modest in comparison with the canons houses, but is still one of the grandest buildings in the old town center.

DE: Das ehemalige Pfarrhaus von Arlesheim liegt mitten im alten Dorfzentrum am Eingang des alten Friedhofes, wo sich früher auch die Pfarrkirche befand. Das alte Pfarrhaus wurde schon 1554 als baufällig erwähnt, um 1625 wurde es renoviert war aber offenbar schon einige Jahre später nicht mehr bewohnbar. Ein Neubau wurde 1736 bewilligt, konnte aber erst zwei Jahre später ausgeführt werden, da Solothurn zuerst seinen Beitrag verweigerte. Es diente dann bis 1913 als Pfarrhaus.

Das Haus besitzt drei Geschosse und ein markantes Walmdach. Ursprünglich hatte es eine Breite von vier Fensterachsen, doch wurde es später seitlich um eine Achse erweitert. Die Fenster des obersten Geschosses sind etwas niedriger. Über dem Eingang ist die Inschrift: Anno 1738 Jahres.

Das barocke Pfarrhaus von Arlesheim fällt in jene Zeit als Arlesheim Residenz des Domkapitels war, was auch die Stellung des Pfarrers aufwertete. Offensichtlich lag den Domherren und dem Bischof daran, das auch dem Pfarrer einen würdigen Amtssitz hatte. Es wirkt zwar bescheiden im Vergleich mit den Domherrenhäusern, ist aber doch eines der stattlichsten Gebäude im alten Ortskern.
