The co-ordinates given are about twenty
metres to the south of the bridge. Footpaths pass under the bridge so there are
ample opportunities to take photos of the bridge from a variety of
angles.
This bridge is of girder construction
and, although possibly not the original bridge, it looks as though a bridge of
similar construction has always existed here. Each side of the bridge the tracks
are supported by arches but there is no indication, in the brickwork, that the
arches continued across the road. The arches on wither side of the bridge have
been turned into retail units with large glass frontages - see
photos.
On most bridges that carry rail tracks
there is a notice advising what to do if the bridge is struck by a road vehicle.
The one for this bridge reads:
This is Bridge 8
XTD
Belvedere Road
between Charing Cross - Waterloo East
In the event
of any road vehicle striking this bridge please phone

as quickly as possible. The safety of trains may be
affected.
