This church was built in the 16th Century on a location where an older temple was existed since the 13th Century.

Later, during the 18th Century, it was renovated.

"Tem um pórtico no estilo Renascença, com os bustos dos apóstolos são Pedro e São Paulo e pilastras decoradas. O interior é composto por três naves, com arcos e ogivas suportados por colunas com bases e capitéis ornamentados com hemisférios e cordas.
O tempo inclui ainda a Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Mártires, com abóboda artesoada e arco de estilo renascença. Tem uma imagem de Nossa Senhora da Assunção (Séc. XVIII) e dois Cristos (Séc. XVI). O tesouro sacro inclui uma cruz processional em ferro, decorada com figuras."
