A populist and spellbinding speaker advocated that all Canadians be unhyphenated Canadians. Prime Minister from 1957-1963 he won great electoral victory in the history of Canada House of Commons.
Prime Minister Diefenbaker extended voting rights to Aboriginal people and promoted northern development as well introduced the Bill of Rights.
He remained in parliament until his death August 16, 1979.
He is buried with his wife Olive on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River.
