This reference mark is located along Idaho Hwy. 28 about 45 miles northwest of Terreton, Idaho and 28 miles southeast of Leadore. The cap is in a ten inch square concrete monument about 40 feet west of MAMMOTH and about 50 feet southwest of Hwy. 28 centerline. The cap is actually an azimuth mark cap which was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1950 and was marked MAMMOTH NO 2.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (WRH) THE STATION IS LOCATED ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 28. IT IS ABOUT 12-1/2 MILES AIRLINE SOUTHEAST OF GILMORE, ABOUT 28 MILES AIRLINE SOUTHEAST OF LEADORE, AND ABOUT 44-1/2 MILES AIRLINE NORTHWEST OF TERRETON. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER TWO IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MAMMOTH NO 2 1950 SET IN TOP OF A 10-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 1 INCH HIGHER THAN THE GROUND AND IS AT THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION. IT IS 47.6 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 28 AND 38 FEET WEST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST.
