This marker is behind the mausoleum at Maui Memorial Park on a sand dune. It is a Type A marker, where the marker is a metal pipe with four "fins" making for easy identification and locating. It is set on a concrete platform overlooking the cemetery, with views of Wailuku, Kahului, Upcountry Maui, Kihei, and more. The platform is still in good condition, but is slowly deteriorating and being undermined by erosion on the side facing the mausoleum.
To access the monument, you need to make your way to the Southwest side of the Mausoleum. Either enter Maui Memorial Park via the regular way, park, and walk thru the graves, or you can use an access road via Waiinu Road that is adjacent to a road that leads to the water tank behind Maui Memorial Park. Walk behind mausoleum to see a rudimentary trail leading up to the marker. The walk up is steep and at times windy.
2 UHI is set into the monument.
