Many of these Victorian beauties still have their authentic upping stones, carriage blocks and hitching posts intact and some have more than one, including this wonderful home.

Out front, a few inches from the curb are these two vestiges of the horse-drawn carriage world of long ago. The hitching post is a nice black, metal one topped with a horse head while the carriage block is the typical long block of granite (??) maybe three or four inches off of the ground. Many of the private residences utilize this type of post in contrast to the government buildings which tend to use a more utilitarian and less expensive model of granite. Both supports are in great condition.
