The bust sits on a pedestal close to the campus library. It's surrounded by a fence. A plaque on the pedestal reads:
"Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Born Janury 15, 1929. Died April 4, 1968
African American clergyman . Civil Rights leader and Nobel Prize winner. Challenged segregation and racial discrimination via nonviolent protest, making a better America.
Sculpture: Barrington McClean
Instructor of Arts from 1969 to 1979. The first African American faculty member of Cabrillo College.
Donated by the Ow family in 2008."
