Whilst on one of their walks by the river bank the trio come across a man, Armpepper, with a canoe. Blamire can see untold opportunities for the canoe and decides to acquire the canoe. Their first outing with the canoe does not go well. They manage to launch the canoe OK, but the canoe has not been tied up properly and drifts downstream.
It is decided that Compo must try to get into the canoe as it drifts under a bridge. Blamire and Clegg dangle Compo off a bridge and drop him into the water. He, as expected, misses.
Eventually the canoe is recovered. Blamire kits the trio out in waterproof shorts and vests and the trio paddle downstream, to the hilarity of some fisherman. Again they land and the canoe drifts off, leaving the trio having to walk home in their vest and shorts.
The clips shows the trio carrying the canoe through the grounds of Barden tower to the main road. The original kissing gate onto the road is now a stile.
