This reference mark is located along Idaho Hwy. 28 about 10 miles northwest of junction with Idaho Hwy 22. The cap is about 35 feet northeast of station KIRCH in ten inch square concrete monument. The cap was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1950 and was marked KIRCH NO. 1.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (WRH) STATION IS LOCATED, AIRLINE, ABOUT 47 MILES SOUTHEAST OF LEADORE, 28 MILES NORTHWEST OF TERRETON, ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 28 WHICH RUNS THROUGH THE LEMHI VALLEY. IT IS AT A SIDE ROAD AND A SIGN SPRING CANYON. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 1, STAMPED KIRCH NO 1 1950, IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 10 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST THAT PROJECTS 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND AND IS THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION MARK. IT IS 15 FEET SOUTH OF A TRACK ROAD.
