This U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Benchmark (designated E 85) is set in a southwest abutment of the Arcade & Attica railroad bridge over Beaver Meadow Rd.

The mark is set in the concrete abutment 3 feet below the level of the track, approximately 14 inches east of the western edge of the backwall, 12 inches south from the angled concrete abutment, and a few inches west of a railroad tie that is being used to keep the stone ballast in place. The mark is also 20 inches northeast from a rusty metal pole that has some faded surveyors ribbon on the top of it.

The mark itself was buried under some debris, however after a little poking around it was found and in good condition. The monument the mark is set in is also in excellent shape.

We approached this bridge from Welch Road (north of the bridge)- the hike is about 2.25 miles round trip. The mark is stamped with the date: 1935.
