The Pieterskerk is a late Gothic church in Leiden dating from 1390. It has always been considered as the city's main church.

Around 1100 at the place of the current church a chapel was present of the Counts of Holland (Graven van Holland) which was was devoted to Petrus and Paulus in 1121. In 1390 a new larger church was erected at this spot. It took some 180 years to finish the building. The tower reached a height of 110 meters but it collapsed in 1521 and was never rebuild.
The church was deconsecrated in 1971 and since 1975 it is managed by a foundation and rented for a wide variety of events. In 2001 a long-term restoration project started that lasted until 2011.
The building is open to the public.
