Located not far from Dundas Square, this diner is an icon of Toronto.
The Senator's website (visit link) has a page about its history and recent adjacent expansion. It indicates that the restaurant opened somewhere around 1860.

The website also has pdf files of its day and dinner menus...typical greasy diner and old time cooking: burgers, tuna melts, mashed potatos and gravy, shakes, liver and onions, salads, fish and chips, etc.

Beware-- the booths are tiny..... you may think twice about coming here if you are overweight...you may not fit in the booths!
