Bitexco Financial Tower is owned by Bitexco Group, a Vietnamese company. With 68 floors above ground and three basements, Bitexco Tower is the 124th tallest building in the world. The tower is mostly made of steel and glass and shaped as a lotus petal. It was designed by New York City based Carlos Zapata Studio, and is located in the business district of the city. The tower was the tallest building in Vietnam from 2010 to early 2011 when Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower topped out on 24 January 2011.
The Bitexco Financial Tower consists of commercial office space located in the 68 storey tower and an adjoining 6 storey retail podium serviced by 3 basements. In addition there is a public observation deck on floor 49 with the city’s premier dinning establishments on floors 50 and 51 with an executive membership club on floor 52.
A helipad is located on the 52th floor at the height of 627 feet from the ground. This helipad is a unique feature of the tower, projecting outward from the tower itself.
The observation deck is located on the 49th floor, below the helipad and offers a 360° view of the city. Access to the observation deck costs 200,000 VND (about 10 USD).
The building ranks at number 5 in the top 20 world's most iconic skyscrapers elected by CNNGo. In December, 2011, Leslie E. Robertson Associates received an Excellence in Structural Engineering Award for this project from NCSEA.
