We Have Always Needed Art - San Diego, CA - Artistically Decorated Utility Boxes on Waymarking.com

Given that the New York Times today published an article ( (visit link) ) about newly-dated cave paintings much older than any previously known -- from as early as 45,000 BCE -- this is a good day to document this relatively new utility box painting in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego.

Its message is clear: from the earliest days of our species, or maybe from the days of our Neanderthal cousins, "we have always needed art." Fortunately, San Diego is swimming (or should I say "surfing") in dozens and dozens of artistically painted utility boxes!

The painting of utility boxes in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego is sponsored by the Mira Mesa Town Council (a volunteer/business organization) and has been spearheaded by the Mira Mesa High School art department. See (visit link) for more information.
