EN: The sign above the entrance that says "365 years Bad Bubendorf" is a little cheat. The general area with the mineral spring was first mentioned then, it took another 100 years until the first hotel Bad Bubendorf was built in 1742; because of structural damages it had to be replaced with a new building around 1770.
The hotel became famous in 1830. 25 angry countrymen met here on October 18, to start their fight for equal rights for the agricultural areas in the canton of Basel. This lead to political quarrels and an armed conflict and finally ended in the formal secession of the canton Basel-Landschaft from the city of Basel in 1833.
In 1837 they opened a spa for several decades but this was stopped by the end of the 19th century.
In 1880 a railway line was built with a station just opposite the hotel. The line is still working and on five dates every summer even with a steam train.
In 1979 the hotel was renovated and listed as a protected building. In 2007 a modern annex was built with another 26 rooms (plus 30 rooms in the historic part), an additional restaurant and several seminar rooms.
DE: Das Schild über dem Eingang besagt "365 Jahre Bad Bubendorf", das ist ein wenig geschwindelt. Die allgemeine Umgebung mit der Mineralquelle wurde damals erstmals erwähnt, dann dauerte es aber weitere 100 Jahre bis das erste Hotel Bad Bubendorf im Jahre 1742 gebaut wurde, wegen garvierender Bauschäden musste es schon um 1770 durch einen Neubau ersetzt werden.
Das Hotel wurde im Jahre 1830 berühmt. 25 zornige Landleute trafen sich hier am 18. Oktober, um ihren Kampf für gleiche Rechte für die ländlichen Gebiete im Kanton Basel zu beginnen. Dies führte zu politischen Auseinandersetzungen und einem bewaffneten Konflikt und schließlich in der formalen Abspaltung des Kantons Basel-Landschaft von der Stadt Basel im Jahre 1833 endete.
Im Jahr 1837 wurde ein Heilbad eröffnet, das mehrere Jahrzehnte betrieben wurde, es wurde aber am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wieder geschlossen.
Im Jahr 1880 wurde die Eisenbahnlinie mit einer Station direkt gegenüber dem Hotel gebaut. Die Linie existiert noch und gehört zum nordwestschweizer S-Bahn-Netz, im Sommer gibt es an fünf Terminen Nostalgiefahrten mit einem Dampfzug.
Im Jahr 1979 wurde das Hotel renoviert und unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. Im Jahr 2007 ein moderner Anbau errichtet mit zusätzlichen 26 Zimmern (plus 30 Zimmer im historischen Teil), einem weiteren Restaurant und mehreren Seminarräumen.
