The original church, built in 1879, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hand hewn stone blocks, stone gable ends, and steeply pitched roof give the one story structure a massive look. A tri-part emblem bearing the numbers 1879 is high in the front gable.
The 1926 red brick structure contrasts with the early stone building. After it was built the older stone structure was used for Sunday School classes. In the early 1970's the congregation relocated and the church property was taken over by the Ellis County Historical Society, and it now serves as the Society's headquarters and as the County History Museum.
