Wat Phra Kaew is the major Buddhist temple in the northern Thai provincial capital of Chiang Rai. As one of the features of the Wat is a small museum. The museum contains historical and Buddhist artefacts most of which have been donated to the Wat by locals, over the years and decades.
The artefacts cover the historical period of the region, principally the Lanna Kingdom, the major Thai cultural group in what is now northern Thailand, also contemporary and near contemporary items. The artefacts on display are arranged attractively, and most with English language text.
Entry is free, but a donation is always appreciated.
