The sign shows All Saints church and the village mill set back from a view of a horse drawing a plough across a field. The church is still used although the mill, in Mill Lane is now a sail-less shell. The wrought iron frame is topped by a bell shape. This recognises that the village is reputed to possess one of the oldest bells in the country. Just along School Lane is the popular Village Inn public house.
The sign was made by Mr Paul Moore of the Norwich School. The original brick and coble base was made and given by Mr K J Symonds and the oaken post and nameplate given by a Mr Brett. Much of the money was raised by the local Womens Institute.
The April 2012 edition of the parish newsletter gives details of the recent renovation of the sign. The sign was repainted, the base was rebuilt and a new seasoned oak post provided. Thanks are given for the voluntary efforts of Stewart Cable, John Symonds, Derek Sutton and Wilf Chamberlain.
