In 1831, the Municipality of Leiderdorp bought the old schoolhome ("schoolhuys") at the Kerklaan 13 on the spot where was for centuries a schoolbuilding and restored it. As it was soon too small to give room to the many pupils, it was decided to build a new building on the same spot.
In 1863 a new school was built. On August 31, Mayor P.G. Hubrecht laid down the first stone. The school originally had two rooms, each for three classes. In 1909 the school was already too small and was rebuilt. The school was closed eventually in 1946 and converted into a village hall. Today, the building is in use as a ballet studio.
