The Winneboujou Canoe Landing in Brule, Wisconsin. This is one of our favorite places in all of Brule and is a beautiful area to launch.

Parking/put-in/launching information:
Parking is at N 46° 30.995 W 091° 36.380 but there is a cul-de-sac type area for dropping off one's watercraft,.

Paddling conditions to be expected:
Paddling from here at the Winnebojou Canoe launch North to the Highway 2 can be quite challenging, but experienced River boaters should be able to make it. The river drops significantly to get to the mouth. There are lots and lots of class 1 rapids and also some class 2 rapids depending upon the water levels. The bad rapids are portageable if need be but it shouldn't be that long of a hike.

Difficulty of the trip:
Experienced river paddlers would be able to make it if one is used to rapids. This area presents quite the challenge otherwise. There are numerous canoe launches.

Length of trip: Paddling north to the Highway 2 Canoe Launch takes about an hour and half give or take (depending on one's paddling experience.)

Portages:
Canoe to the Highway 2 canoe landing. It will take up a hour or so, but it is time well spent!

Permits required:
Standard fishing license from the DNR offic would be needed to fish, but don't fish from a canoe! The water is moving far to fast to fish from a moving canoe. Numerous campsites are also in Brule if one wants to stay the night.

Type of trip:
One would need to find the route back to their vehicle. The river does not loop.

Take-out Coordinates: N 46° 33.035 W 091° 35.345

Other information:
Highway 2 is right at downtown Brule where there is great lodging and food.
