The Royal Flying Doctor Service is a famous Australian charitable institution that was founded by the Reverend John Flynn in 1928. It is among the largest aero-medical organizations in the world. It provides 24 hour medical assistance to remote areas of Australia.
The Eyre Highway is the main road to Western Australia from the more populated eastern states. There are about five areas of the highway designated as "RFDS Emergency Airstrips" with at least two having wide clearings on the side of the road.
This airstrip is found between Mundrabilla and Madura Pass. With low traffic volume, it should not be too difficult to land an aircraft on the highway!
