The Dodge Theater was built 1929-1930. The building is in an Italianate Renaissance style. The brick building has ornate terra-cotta detailing and a clay tile roof.
In 1939 the theater the world premier of the movie, "Dodge City" after the townboosters launched a campaign with the studio. Among the stars that came to Dodge City for the opening were Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Ann Sheridan, Clair Windsor, John Garfield, Jane Wyman, and Alan Hale. More then 50,000 people met the special train which brought the stars to town.
The theater closed in the late 1990s after being renovated and reopened a few years prior.
