Starting with a six-wheeler in 1903, Pullman Motor Cars manufactured thousands of automobiles before going out of business in 1917.
Pullman, named after the maker of railroad coaches, became the best known of the 15 or more York County companies that manufactured automobiles.
The six-wheel concept did not catch on, in part, because the middle set would get stuck causing the car to seesaw.
Mural Artist: David Naydock, Pottsville; Mural Finished: 1998; Size: 17 ft. wide by 17 ft. high; Sponsor: York County Chamber of Commerce.
