The McConnell Memorial Chapel is located in the northwest corner of Gable Cemetery, which is located between Meeker and Prague. From the intersection of Highways 62 and 18, travel east 5 miles on Highway 62, then south on CR3480 2 miles. The cemetery sits on the southeast corner of CR1060 and CR3480.

This cemetery was established in 1893 on land donated by William H. Gable. In 1938, Jim McConnell constructed this chapel with the help of friends and family in the community, in memory of his young daughter. Since that time, the chapel has been used for church services, funerals, meetings and an annual Memorial Day picnic which draws almost 75 people.

This is a one-story building, constructed of native stone. It has a steeply pitched roof, with a small vestibule on the west, which is the main entrance. There are four double hung windows along the north wall, with three windows and a door on the south. Inside there is an exposed concrete floor with wood pews for church services. At the time of our visit, the Gable Cemetery Association had members on-site cleaning and preparing the building for the large Memorial Day picnic the next week. Outside to the east of the chapel is a small native rock two-door rest room facility.

This chapel is precious to the residents of this rural area, and has been an integral part of their lives over the decades.
