Kiwi Burn Hut is a 12 bunk hut close to Middle Earths Fanghorn Forest - for all the Lord of the Rings fans.
The hut is 1.5hrs hike after crossing the Mararoa Swing bridge beside a car park. the car park is signposted off the Mt Nicholas Road at S45 21.189 E168 07.957. from there is is a short drive through farmland to the carpark & swingbridge at S45 21.015 E168 07.555. Once crossing the swingbridge to the true right of the river the track heads down stream for approx 1hr to it's junction with the Kiwi Burn. Then following the Kiwi Burn up on it's true left until the main clearings are reached. from here you need to cross the Kiwi Burn and make to the hut tucked in behind trees at the coordinates listed at top.
the hut has 12 bunks, running water and a Pot belly stove. This hut does tend to see a lot of traffic in the Spring/summer months with various Scouting Groups, Boys and Girls brigade Groups, Hunters & Hikers all using it.
