This tree ring display is located in a section of the Royal Ontario Museum dedicated to children...and letting them learn about and touch certain items. One of the exhibits gave kids a sticker if they could find five live frogs in an aquarium.... it was very difficult to do since the frogs were well camoflaged.
The placard for this tree ring exhibit indicates that it came from a red oak and has about 150 rings. It explains that in places with seasonal climates like Canada, each year's growth can be seen as a separate ring. This tree's rings show that it grew more per year when it was younger. The placard also explains 10 facts about the bark, xylum, rays, etc.
The rings show the tree to have lived between 1820- 1979.
