This sign is located inside the Steamtown Mall in Scranton, PA. It is part of a display inside the mall dedicated to the television show The Office. Because the Welcome to Scranton sign is part of the TV show's opening, many people pose for photos at this sign inside the mall.
Scranton was named after the Scranton brothers, who founded the Lackawana Steel Company.
The sign also displays the town motto: Embracing our People, our Traditions, & our Future.
Scranton is home to Steamtown National Park as well as the Anthracite Museum, and has many monuments and memorials around town that reference the town's mining history and political heritage.
