The impressive fountain was dedicated dedicated on Pentecost Sunday in 1900. It is located in green park just between Altona's Town Hall, Museum and Main station. The fountain is the work of of Berlin's sculptor Paul Türpe (1859-1944). The fountain was dedicated of Altona's citizen and philanthropist Günther Ludwig Stuhlmann (1797 - 1872), who donated the construction of the fountain. In the central part of the fountain there are two centaurs fighting for a big fish. It is actually alegory of symbolising the trade rivalry between then separated cities Hamburg and Altona about the fishery dominance.
