This bend on Beacon Road was a favourite for car chases in the 1960s, including several episodes of the Saint.

In Monte Carlo the Saint saves ex King Fallouda of Fedyra from assassination. The King asks the Saint to protect his wife Adana on a trip to sell her jewels to finance a coup. The relationship between the Saint and Queen Adana is decidedly frosty, as the Saint remembers Adana when she was the daughter of a London bus driver. The relationship warms after several attacks on their car are foiled by the Saint. There are several further attempts at robbery by car and by plane before the funds and Queen Adana are safely returned to the King.
