Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham is one of the more important wats in the tourist and World Heritage City of Luang Prabang. The temple dates to the 18th century and houses an important Buddha image.

On the northern side of the main hall (the largest and most visible building in the grounds) is a half metre high bell mounted in a wooden frame. Rather unornamented as compared to most Thai Buddhist bells, however, it is a functioning bell. As with Buddhist bells this is there to be rung by visitors to the temple. As entry to the temple grounds will cost you 10,000 Kip (50c) feel free to go ahead and hit that bell.
