"Johanneskirche (Innsbruck)
- Quelle: Wikipedia

The Roman Catholic Church of St. John is at Innsbruck Innrain.
At the instigation of Joseph Hyacinth Hofbauschreibers Doerflinger was a chapel here in 1721 and in its place was built in 1729, the existing baroque church dedicated to St. Johann Nepomuk started in the year of his canonization. The porch is from 1750, the ceiling painting of the church by Joseph Schoepf (1794).
The high-Baroque building, built by Italian models, goes back to Georg Anton Gumpp and formed a long time the western end of the Innrain.
The St. John's Church served various pastoral purposes, and was cared for by religious orders. Was completed as seemed to her the Redemptorist monastery until her own in the Maximilian Strasse. Her successor was a priory of Benedictine. After the Second World War the church was an independent Expositur until 1993 was home to the university parish. Since 1979 Bernhard Hippler acts as a university chaplain.
Blend in the niche on the south side of the church is a monument to the fallen in both world wars, members of the K.Ö.HV Leopoldina Innsbruck. It was in its original form in the spring of 1926, erected to the fallen of World War II and designed by the architect Michael Fritz Mueller. Above the plaque is the emblem of the Leopoldina, supported by two putti. After the Second World War memorial plaque has been expanded. Plaque and emblem are from Breccienbeton." - Source: Wikipedia
