The tourist city, provincial capital, and World Heritage site of Luang Prabang also has a museum. Originally, the museum building was a palace for the King of Luang Prabang, built between 1904-9 by the former French administration. It was after the 1975 revolution that the building was transformed into a museum.
The Museum contains displays of religious and cultural artefacts, largely relating to the history of the region, and the former royal family. There is a strict no photography policy. The museum is near the city centre, and in a landscaped grounds. Entry cost is 30,000 Kip, ~$3.
